Artist's Comments

I painted this the semester I was in Japan, in my Sumi-E class. It's one of my favorites, the second favorite being one with rocks. The water that one looks absolutely horrid, though.

This was done with acrylic paints and sumi ink on rice paper. The signature in the corner - Usuino Kaori - is my own, and the red stamp is my own hand-carved hanko.

This is gorgeous. It takes a lot of talent to be able to paint in the Japanese style and make it look a) authentic and b) beautiful.

Well done you! ^_^

Where am I supposed to hide now?

Did you really think I wouldn't see this through?

In my field of paper flowers,
and candy clouds of lullabye,
I lie inside myself for hours,
and watch my purple sky fly over me.

i love :sushi: do you??

Sumi-e was a lot of fun, but my boyfriend (when I was over there) took ceramics and made some really amazingly beautiful pieces! I'd say just think about which one you'd have more fun doing - getting your hands all covered in clay, or spending hours on your knees painting. :)
